I’m so going to miss this place
The last paper of my finals was cleared earlier this week, on Monday, (and assuming I pass, which I certainly hope so) rounding up my three years of polytechnic education.
I dropped by today to return some equipment and also to pass a CD containing my major project to my supervisor, which will be kept and archived by the school. The technical officer which I was supposed to return stuff to wasn’t around, again, which really infuriated me since I don’t enjoy the lengthy trips to and from school.
While waiting for a friend, I popped by the library to bade farewell to the copies of TinTin and Calvin of Hobbes that would not longer be able to return and read after my graduation. I’ve read every individual copy of them at least fives times, and probably a lot more, especially during the first semester when I first stepped into this strange new school and barely knew anyone.
Wondering if the library would do me a final service before I depart, I walked up to a search terminal and halfheartedly keyed in ’second life’, hoping to find some introductory development books to it. Whoa! They apparently did stock up on them. From Second Life development to ‘The Hero with a Thousand Faces’ by Joseph Campbell and all the periodicals it carries, the school library never fails to amaze with its range of collections. The national library on the other hand, is something of a major disappointment; the sad state of IT books they carry looks more suited for a museum.
I borrowed one of them and since I’ll have to return again to look for the lab technical officer, returning it isn’t an out of the way hassle. The school library is one fine place that I’m going to miss.
